Jackie and I took the RV and three of our cats and headed to the Howard Miller Steelhead Park for the weekend. You can make reservations here. This is a nice campground although most of the sites are less private than we prefer. Try to get sites 8 or 13, if possible. These are on the river and semi-private. |
| We're snugged into site 24 and, on Saturday, the sun is shining brightly. |

Note that they even let Airstreams into this campground. |
| Sauk Mountain, just northwest of the campground, sports fresh snow from the night before. |

There were a group of flyfisherman practicing on the wide lawns of the campground. |
| Fishing lines made dramatic swirls in the air. |

Some of these guys looked like they knew what they were doing. |
| Daisys were blooming in the grass... |

This deer watched us intently as we hiked the easy trail leading through the park. |
| Lots of Canada geese. |

Here's a pair of Canadas watching as we pass... |
| Signs informed us a bit on some of the nature surrounding us. The trails are wide and it's easy to walk on mowed grass. |

Looks like Spring has already sprung for this Robin egg... |
| Maple trees were budding heavily as the daylight is growing longer. |

Looking downstream on the placidly flowing, Skagit River... |
| Across the river the the foliage is beginning to appear. |

Upstream there's still snow in those hills.... |
| A lone Eagle perched high in a snag... |

I really enjoyed this wild hog in the parking lot.... |
| I looked at it longingly but Jackie was having none of it... |

Pearl is always pleased to be woken from her nap... |
| And Bubba usually get his naps in, too. After all, he has to be awake at 2 AM to honk the horn.. |

A view back through the campground.... |
| Site number 8 is a very nice pull-through right on the river... |

When we leave, Sauk Mountain doesn't have quite as much snow on it as it did just a day before... |
